Huaifeng Sun is an Associate Professor at Shandong University working on applied geophysics. Prior to this, he studied in School of Civil Engineering, Shandong University, where he was a member of Geotechnical and Structural Engineering Research Center from 2008 to 2013. During 2010 to 2013, he was a Co-cultured Ph.D. student with Department of Geophysics, Chang'an University. He obtained his Ph.D. (2013) and B.S. (2006) from Shandong University.
He now leads the Laboratory of Earth Electromagnetic Exploration, Shandong University (LEEE SDU) focusing on near surface imaging with EM related geophysical methods.
His research interests include:
- Fine modeling and imaging of near surface targets
- Including electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), Transient Electromagnetic (Ground based, semi-airborne based, borehole based) and multi-frequency electromagnetic imaging.
- Geothermal and earth structures exploration
- Computational Electromagnetics
